Wojciech Kiełbasiński – Doctoral Candidate at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Earlier, he graduated from law studies in the same University. He is also the secretary of the assessment teams of the Polish Accreditation Committee and a member of the Council of the NCU Doctoral Candidates’ Self-Government. From the beginning of his studies, he has been involved in activities in the interest of the academic community. In the past, he was an active member of the NCU Student Self-Government and represented students in the collegial bodies of the university. He was also a member of the Student Council of the Student Parliament of the Republic of Poland, Chairman of the Polish Universities Forum and an expert of the Polish Accreditation Committee for student affairs.
Currently, he is a member of the Council of the Scientia Thorunensia Foundation, which organizes projects for students and doctoral candidates. He is a co-author of the nationwide portal eDoktorant.pl.
Wojciech Kiełbasiński’s candidacy for the Ombudsman for Doctoral Candidates’ Rights was submitted by the Doctoral Candidates’ Self-Government of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.
He focuses his scientific interests around the law on higher education and science. He is also interested in administrative law, European law and sports law. He is the author of several scientific articles. He conducted many trainings related to the law on higher education and science.
Privately, he is a fan of the sport and a collector of sports memorabilia. He has a rich collection of athletes’ autographs and match shirts.
Ombudsman for Doctoral Candidates’ Rights:
The Ombudsman for Doctoral Candidates’ Rights is a person whose task is to uphold the rights of doctoral candidates, investigate signals of suspected violations of doctoral candidates’ rights and, if necessary, intervene in the event of violations of doctoral candidates’ rights.
The Ombudsman operates through:
- undertaking mediation and explanatory actions in individual cases (including presenting, with the consent of the interested party, before the university authorities);
- monitoring and supporting the observance of doctoral candidates’ rights;
- developing and issuing reports and recommendations regarding problems with respecting the rights of doctoral candidates;
- organizing information campaigns.
